Getting Around

People moving to Ontario from Brampton condos can be forgiven for expecting the same kind of road, rail and air connectivity from their new city that they had in their old one. Like Brampton, Ontario, Ontario, California is part of a large network of cities and towns that come together to form a teeming metropolis. In Brampton's case, it is Toronto. In Ontario's case, it is Los Angeles. Because of high numbers of commuters living in the city, Ontario features several major highways along with public transport, railway stations and an airport. To help you get a better idea of how to get from place to place, we've created this guide to transport in Ontario.

Road

Ontario is served by a number of freeways, which help connect its Bay Street condos to other parts of the city and other cities in Southern California. Interstate 10 and the Pomona Freeway (also known as State Route 60) are the major east-west arteries while Interstate 15 and State Route 83, which becomes Euclid Avenue in the city, run north-south. Commuters looking to travel into Los Angeles on a daily basis will most likely use either Interstate 10 or the Pomona Freeway. The actual distance is approximately 35 miles but travel time varies between 40 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes depending on the time of day.

Public Transit

Just like Whitby, Ontario real estate is popular because of its public transit access to Toronto, Ontario also provides non car-owners with commuting options. The Metrolink regional rail system is similar to the GTA's GO Train, and serves most of Southern California. Passengers can board at the Ontario station, which is just off Haven Avenue, and travel to destinations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the San Fernando Valley. Bus routes, which are run by the Omnitrans Company, provide public transit within Ontario's city limits and a few destinations in nearby towns.

Air

Residents of Mississauga, Ontario homes are no doubt familiar with the booming screams of laboring jet engines as they take off from Toronto's Pearson International Airport, one of the busiest airports in Canada. If they were to start an airplane noise appreciation club, there would be a chapter in Ontario, California for sure. Ontario International Airport, which is owned by the city of Los Angeles, acts as both cargo hub for shipments coming to or leaving from Southern California and also as a reliever airport for the often-congested LAX. It is the fifteenth busiest in the United States.

Passengers arriving at Ontario International come from all over the world, from Toronto Beaches homes to Russian communes, and are generally bound for vacations in the San Fernando Valley. It has two terminals covering an area of more than 265,000 square feet each, which serve 7 million passengers a year and handle 530,000 tons of cargo. Companies with operations at Ontario International include: UPS, FedEx, Aeromexico, Continental Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways, Jet Blue, American Airlines, and ATA. They fly to regional destinations in California and Nevada as well as international airports in Canada, Mexico and other countries overseas.
